Ber\u00fchmt wurde er Ende der 1960er Jahre durch seine provokanten, lebensgro\u00dfen und realistisch gestalteten Frauenfiguren, welche wie masochistische Schaufensterpuppen zu M\u00f6belst\u00fccken reduziert als Tische, St\u00fchle oder Kleiderst\u00e4nder fungieren. Nicht zuletzt durch diese Skulpturen etablierte sich Jones in der internationalen Kunstwelt.<\/p>\n<p>Das Werk des britischen K\u00fcnstlers, der mehrfach an der Documenta in Kassel teilgenommen hat, umfasst aber wesentlich mehr als die M\u00f6bel-Skulpturen, setzt er sich doch intensiv mit Malerei, Grafik, Design und der Gestaltung von B\u00fchnenbildern auseinander.<\/p>\n<p>Mit rund 90 Gem\u00e4lden, Druckgrafiken, Zeichnungen, Skulpturen und einem Filmbeitrag gew\u00e4hrt die Retrospektive aus Anlass des 75. Geburtstages von Allen Jones im Jahr 2012 einen umfassenden Blick auf sein vielf\u00e4ltiges Schaffen.
