Inspiriert von seiner Wahlheimat New York schuf er mit seinem Teleobjektiv Bilder von Wolkenkratzern, Stra\u00dfenschluchten, Br\u00fccken im Nebel, Ozeanriesen. Ihn faszinierten die gro\u00dfen amerikanischen St\u00e4dte (Chicago, San Francisco, Houston), aber auch kleine D\u00f6rfer auf dem Land und die Weite der W\u00fcste. Ende der 1980er Jahre gab Feininger das Fotografieren auf und wandte sich dem Archivieren seiner Arbeiten zu. Im Juni 1998 erhielt er den Kulturpreis der Deutschen Gesellschaft f\u00fcr Photographie. Er starb am 18. Februar 1999 im Alter von 92 Jahren in New York. Die meisten der 105 s\/w-Fotografien der Ausstellung (\u00fcberwiegend Vintage Prints) sind in den 1940er und 50er Jahren entstanden. Neben den \u201cStadtansichten\u201d zeigte die Ausstellung auch Motive, die \u201con the road\u201d, auf seinen Streifz\u00fcgen durch das Land entstanden sind.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ausstellungsorte
