Mercedes-Benz in photographs by Zoltán Glass
Nicknamed “Picasso of the Camera”, Hungarian-born artist and photographer Zoltán Glass – one of the “best-known unknown” photographers worldwide – is showcased at this exhibition with a selection of 116 of his best b/w photographs from the 1930s.
Rediscovered by Mercedes-Benz Classic, visitors can admire car-show images, pictures of technical details, several examples of creative advertising photography and some treasures of motor racing history. The exhibition displays photographs which focus on the “Silver Arrow legend” – mostly taken at the Avus racetrack and the Nürburgring.

Whether August Macke, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Erich Heckel, Emil Nolde or Max Pechstein – the search for new models of life as well as a longing for a forgotten paradise were the main driving force of the artists. More than 130 outstanding paintings and graphics from renowned pioneers of German Expressionism illustrate the development of powerful coloring and pictorial language of the young avant-garde as a counter model to the predominant understanding of art around 1900.

The relatively new medium of the poster turned gradually into a recognized art form, which radically changed the urban landscape during the Belle Époque. Accompanied by works of Lautrec’s processors and contemporaries, like Alfons Mucha, Théophile-Alexandre Steinlen or Félix Vallotton, the exhibition La Bohème. Toulouse-Lautrec and the Masters of Montmartre gives a wide-ranging insight into the fascinating world of poster art around 1900.
